3 ways to promote your opt-in and grow your email list

You’ve heard the expression “If you build it, they will come” right? Well, that doesn’t apply to your opt-in. It just doesn’t, ok? Sorry to break it to you.

Just because you have a kick-ass free resource, doesn’t mean anyone is aware of it. You WILL have to actually promote it and tell people about it.

So, just how do you go about that? The obvious ones are promoting it through your social media. Here are 3 more ways you can get your opt-in and lead magnet in front of your ideal audience.

  1. Promote on Facebook Groups: There are two ways you can approach this. If you have your own Facebook Group then this is a great opportunity to nurture your current audience and offer value. But the likelihood is that your group members have already handed you their email so that won’t help you grow your list.

Your next option is to use promo days on Facebook groups you are part of. Your ideal clients are probably hanging out in the same groups you are so this is a great opportunity to leverage those connections. Just make sure not to break any group rules and only promote it on days where you are allowed.

  2. Use Pinterest to drive more traffic: It’s no secret that Pinterest is one of the largest search engines next to Google. Though commonly misconstrued as a social media platform, Pinterest users are actively searching for help. Anything from home decor and wedding ideas to travel tips and other advice. Get yourself over to Canva and create a few branded pins and post them 1-2 a month with a link to your opt-in. Post them on your boards, and on to shared boards to make sure you are reaching those users with the same interests as yours.

  3. Use your blog: You already have a great platform so why not maximize the space? Someone who lands on your blog is already interested in your service, right? So why not offer them a little extra value than just “sign up to my newsletter to not miss any blog updates.” Find a way to embed your opt-in within your blog content to offer them value and prove why they would want to be on your email list.

Remember, growing your email list is not a one-and-done. Though it may require a little work at the beginning once you find where your leads are coming from you can focus your efforts on growing your list through that source.
