Why I Became Obsessed with Content Repurposing: A Mompreneur's Journey

In case you don’t know my story i want to take you on a journey behind the scenes of my business and share with you why after being in business for 2 years I pivoted my business from being a virtual assistant to offering content repurposing as a service.

It all started with a pivotal moment in my life when my eldest son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at age 3. Though I was familiar with autism, I clearly had no idea of the broadness of the spectrum. One thing I learned from my son’s diagnosis was how we all learn in different ways, and it completely transformed the way I approached my business and content creation.

Ever heard of someone saying “I’m more of a visual person” or what about “If I listen to it a few times I’ll remember it”?

These are all examples of how we all absorb information. Some people are more visual, some absorb it better through audio and some need to actually feel things to really understand them.

So without getting too technical, let me walk you through part of our journey.

Getting an ASD Diagnosis and a New Perspective

When we received the news of my son's ASD diagnosis, our world was turned upside down. I’m not going to lie, there was a lot of denial but bear with me… we were making our way through the emotions of change and uncertainty. I was a first-time mom who had just got her business up and running, plus we had just moved house, so I was already juggling the responsibilities of running my business and raising my kid, but this diagnosis made me realize the power of adaptation and embracing diversity.

It brought to light that we all have unique ways of learning and absorbing information, and that's when I began to explore different ways of presenting and creating content as a solution. Not just for my business, but to help my son learn how to speak.

Watching my son's speech journey has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. Up until the age of 2, he spoke very few words. But thanks to early intervention and speech therapy, he gradually began to find his voice and build his vocabulary.

It was like witnessing a little miracle unfold before my eyes as he started stringing together sentences and finding new ways to communicate. As the years passed, his passion for reading exploded, and there is a thirst for knowledge taking root in his heart. Now, he's always reaching for books, maps, or anything with words, asking what things are, what they mean, and even how to say them in different languages.

It's also amazing to see how much my son's love for audio has contributed to his language development. The Yoto player has become his faithful companion, as he immerses himself in captivating stories that have been instrumental in expanding his vocabulary. Not only does he listen intently, but he also enjoys having the physical cards with the actual books, creating a beautiful synergy between auditory and visual learning.

I often catch him with his eyes fixed on the book while he listens as if he's trying to grasp every detail to understand the story better. It's heartwarming to see his curiosity and eagerness to absorb knowledge through different mediums, and it reinforces my belief in the power of content repurposing to reach and engage diverse learners.

It's incredible to see how far he's come, and it fuels my perseverance and the limitless potential we all possess to grow and learn. His journey has reinforced my belief in the importance of understanding and catering to different learning styles through content repurposing, ensuring that no one is left behind in their quest for knowledge and understanding.

Content Repurposing is the Key

As I dug deeper into my content repurposing journey, I began to realize that we all consume information in different ways. Some people are more visual learners, craving engaging graphics and infographics that paint a vivid picture. On the other hand, there are those who prefer to listen, absorbing knowledge through podcasts or audio content.

This eye-opening realization was like a lightbulb moment for me, and it reinforced the importance of content repurposing. By enhancing blog posts with visually appealing infographics instead of just images and, I could cater to a diverse audience and ensure that my message reached everyone, regardless of their preferred learning style. Or taking Instagram Lives and turning them into posts… you get the idea.

Content repurposing has become the bridge that connects me with my audience on a deeper level, making sure no one is left behind in their journey to learn and grow alongside my business.

From Overwhelm to Efficiency

As a mompreneur, time is my most precious asset. Juggling the responsibilities of running and growing a business while being present for my family often left me feeling like I was trying to stretch the hours in a day to their limits. The pressure of constantly churning out fresh and engaging content was not only overwhelming, but it also seemed to take up so much time. Content repurposing came to the rescue and transformed how I approached content creation. Now, I can create one piece of content and repurpose it across multiple platforms.

From blog posts to social media captions, newsletters to podcasts, the possibilities are countless. It's like breathing new life into my and my client’s content. I can now build magnetic tile castles with my kids or even steal some quality time for myself – binging a show, a workout, or simply drinking a HOT cup of coffee in peace and quiet.

Content repurposing has truly become the secret sauce that empowers me to be a successful mompreneur, one who can conquer the world of business while also savoring the joys of family life.

Empowering Others with Content Repurposing

Seeing the positive impact of content repurposing on my business, I knew I had to share this game-changing strategy with other mompreneurs. I became passionate about helping fellow entrepreneurs embrace content repurposing as a means to thrive in their businesses while still enjoying precious moments with their families. It is about creating a community of empowered mompreneurs who can conquer the content world with ease.

I want every mompreneur to feel inspired, capable, and confident in her content, knowing that she doesn’t have to bear the burden alone. I'm passionate about the transformational journey that content repurposing offers and I'm even more passionate about sharing it with you.

And that's part of the story of how content repurposing became my passion and transformed my business. It's not just about making my life easier; it's about empowering all of you to take charge of your content game and reach new heights in your mompreneur journey.
